SplitMonX was created out of frustration with existing tools that were either filled with intrusive subscription paywalls, crashed with no internet connection, or left groups with endless circular IOUs.
Why SplitMonX?
Splitting shared expenses is one of the most common social activities in modern life. We do it when ordering pizza with coworkers, renting vacation houses with family, splitting utility bills with flatmates, or taking road trips with friends.
Yet, the software tools available to do this frequently complicate things. They force users into messy multi-step spreadsheets, require everyone to be connected to high-speed 5G at the moment of payment, and result in 10 different people sending money back and forth in redundant loops.
We built SplitMonX with a clear goal: build a reliable, elegant, and mathematically accurate application that handles shared group expenses cleanly, works anywhere, and respects user privacy.

1. Mathematical Rigor & Zero Drift
Financial tools cannot afford rounding errors. SplitMonX calculates all balances using integer cents and guarantees the zero-sum invariant across all group participants. Every penny is accounted for down to the exact cent.
2. Real-World Offline Resilience
Trips and group activities happen on road trips, mountain valleys, flights, and basement venues with zero cell reception. We engineered an optimistic persistent FIFO queue and 100MB LRU disk cache so the app never freezes or loses data offline.
3. Transparent Privacy by Design
We process receipt photos locally on your device with Google ML Kit rather than sending your receipts to third-party ad networks. When you request account deletion, we give you a transparent 30-day grace period before a scheduled Cloud Function permanently wipes your data.
4. Protecting Friendships
Money talks shouldn’t be stressful. By collapsing circular debts into minimal bank transfers and enforcing polite 24-hour reminder cooldowns, SplitMonX protects relationships from financial awkwardness.
